Of Birthday Parties and Such
Yesterday was Grayson’s birthday party. His actual birthday was on the 17th and I had intended to blog about just that, but procrastination has shown itself again in my life as I decided that I could wait until after his party. The super cool thing about the party this year was that among our group of close friends here in the neighborhood, there are a total of five kids (in either 1st grade or in K) with birthdays in January. And with four of the five being boys, it made it relatively easy to combine the parties. So we had a combined party for the four boys (Grayson, Ian, Hayden, and Luke). Grayson, Ian and Luke were turning 6 and Hayden turned 7. And even as I write this, I just feel so blessed that we’d have neighbors like these that we’d share a common block of the same neighborhood, same stage of life and the same faith. Clearly, despite all the doubts I’ve had, this is where we were supposed to move all along.
So back to the party. We had the party at Let It Shine Gymnastics. It was absolutely awesome. The kids really loved it and it was the absolute best atmosphere of any party Grayson’s ever had. A gym coach was assigned to the group and he led them each through the different activities (with the Birthday Boys going first each time). While Grayson’s truly favorite thing was swinging off a rope into a foam pit, I know the bungee swing (pictured) was a big hit. Normally, there wouldn’t be time for every kid to get to do the bungee, but because the party was just our group of four families, they were able to accommodate all the kids on it.
As for other birthday things, we were so happy that Becky’s parents got to come up for the party and also to take in one of Grayson’s basketball games. They also got to see Grayson riding his scooter. But speaking of the scooter and basketball, those are things I really to post separate entries on at some point.
A final note concerning the birthday party: Grayson’s sugars were spectacular yesterday (despite the cake and juice) and were roughly throughout the day: 59, 186, 60, 95, 154. The 60 hit at a great time (right before the cake and juice). Overall, a great day in many, many ways.

I think I’d like the bungee swing.

Hey! I got to your website through ragamuffin soul, because you wrote that your son is a Type 1 (as am I), so I was curious, since I read a lot of the Christian blogs out there and hang out in the Diabetes OC as well. The internet is a big circle! Goodluck to Grayson!
