And the Projects Roll On

We’ve been residents in Spring Hill, Tennessee now for nearly 45 days and so I was going to list all the things we’ve done or had done to the house in that time, but rather than waste everyone’s time I’ll just say that today has been busy but not necessarily out of the ordinary for us since we’ve been here. Around 9am we had a problem with garbage truck getting to our house because of all the cars parked along our cul-de-sac. Today it was the construction guys, although somedays we have quite a few vehicles just from the folks who live here. While I was at the doctor’s office (a doctor who has now seen all three of us at least once), the alarm guy arrived to install the alarm system.

A little later in the day, our new washing machine was getting delivered. This is really its own story. The reason we are replacing our 4 year old Maytag washer (that has already been worked on since we moved) is that the part that has gone bad (some sort of balancing mechanism) is too expensive and difficult a repair to attempt. We were going to put up with the helicopter-like noise coming from our laundry room when it managed to finally shake a bleach bottle onto the floor and subsequently ruin the carpet in the hallway nearby. So we went all over metro Nashville looking for the best deal on a washer and we settled on a deal from Home Depot (it was a GE that was on sale plus had a couple of rebate deals going). We finally ordered it, it finally arrives and we discover it has a dent in the front. But let me tell you, that dent was such a blessing. They offered us $75 off to take the washer as-is. With all the expenses going on right now, that $75 was truly appreciated. It’s just been one of those things where I felt like God was helping us through a minor crisis and in the midst of all the noise, and feeling bad, it really made my day.
