Colorado Rockies Rock!
Darn… Michelle Malkin beat me to the story on the Rockies and their Christian-oriented method of operation. The story was on the front page of yesterday’s USA Today and I had to buy a copy when I saw what it was about. Here’s an excerpt from the story:
No copies of Playboy or Penthouse are in the clubhouse of baseball’s Colorado Rockies. There’s not even a Maxim. The only reading materials are daily newspapers, sports and car magazines and the Bible.
Music filled with obscenities, wildly popular with youth today and in many other clubhouses, is not played. A player will curse occasionally but usually in hushed tones. Quotes from Scripture are posted in the weight room. Chapel service is packed on Sundays. Prayer and fellowship groups each Tuesday are well-attended. It’s not unusual for the front office executives to pray together.
Plus, I’ll always hold a special place in my heart for the Rockies. When Grayson was diagnosed with Diabetes, we had to cancel our anniversary trip we had planned. We were going to Colorado and we had Rockies tickets (good ones). Of course, they are non-refundable but we sent them back anyway (after the game had been played) along with a letter explaining what happened and they fully refunded us. They didn’t have to do it, but they did. And it was a small consolation to otherwise downer event (both the Diabetes diagnosis and not being able to go on our special trip). Maybe someday we’ll get to go see the Rockies play and this just is one more reason why I want to get out there to support them.
