Social Security Options

Friday, April 30th, 2004

This article from foxnews.com discusses the monetary situation with Social Security and then finally the political options behind it. What I particularly like about it is the end which clearly emphasizes the 3 basic options for dealing with Social Security — 1) raise taxes, 2) cut benefits, or 3) privatize/rework the program or at [...]

NYU Student Lived in the Library

Thursday, April 29th, 2004

I found this story about a NYU student who slept in the library quite amusing. What I think is particularly interesting though is that despite not having enough money to afford housing, he did have enough money to have a web-site… www.homelessatnyu.com — which as you can see includes a vanity domain name. [...]

We Got our Wildlife Plates

Thursday, April 29th, 2004

Awhile back I referenced the new Georgia wildlife plates. We finally broke down and got them on our vehicles. It was nice getting rid of the “Paulding” county part of our tags and they look cool AND the true liberals find it “too pro-Bush”. It’s kind of a three-for-one deal.

Hamas Leader Interview

Sunday, April 18th, 2004

I found this story FOXNews.com - Top Stories - Reporter’s Notebook: Dead Man Talking interesting as it shows just how scared this Hamas leader was. I guess he was right to be scared but despite his caution, he obviously wasn’t cautious enough.

Go Ann!

Thursday, April 15th, 2004

Go Ann Coulter! Once again, Ann’s sharp comments strike right to the heart of the matter and expose the hypocrocy within the press and the left in general. I only wish I could write as clearly and convincingly as she does!

Cal Thomas: Apologize for what?

Thursday, April 15th, 2004

Cal Thomas: Apologize for what? — my sentiments exactly regarding the President’s news conference. My jaw dropped to floor when I heard the finger pointing in the questions. It was horrible. Do they also ask President Clinton these same questions and with the same tone? If anyone wondered why the White [...]

Julio Franco’s Contributions

Wednesday, April 14th, 2004

I was pleasantly surprised to find this write up about my favorite player (Julio Franco) and his contribution to the Braves game on Saturday night. What I was particularly surprised about was their keeping the spirit of his post-game interview in which he continued to praise God for his continued ability to play [...]

National Policy Analysis #500: Keep the Faith: A Letter from Iraq

Thursday, April 8th, 2004

I also found this National Policy Analysis #500: Keep the Faith: A Letter from Iraq — which is a quick letter from a guy named Joe Roche who is serving in Iraq right now. At the bottom of the article is a link to more casual reporting from the field from Joe. He [...]

Jean-Francois Revel’s “Anti-Americanism”

Thursday, April 8th, 2004

This article claims to be a book review of Jean-Francois Revel’s “Anti-Americanism”, but the review is so long I felt like I have read the entire book. Essentially, the author of the article (John Parker of the Asia Times) was so overcome with excitement that he used the book’s excellent points throughout his article [...]

Company Policy and Religious Beliefs

Wednesday, April 7th, 2004

I found an interesting story about a man who won a suite against AT&T regarding discrimination. He fought AT&T’s company policy that required him to “value” and “hold in esteem” the alternative lifestyle and religious beliefs of others. After a drawn out legal battle, he essentially got back his salary. It sounded [...]
