Sony is Fixin’ to Get Sooooo Busted!
I don’t know how to say it other than “Sony is Busted”. Thanks to Mark Russinovich (ht: Brandon) there is some seriously solid proof that the Sony DRM (copy-protected) CD’s not only are a pain the butt (see my previous article 1 and article 2) but now it appears that the software contained on the CD cannot but uninstalled, eats CPU time, and hides itself as well any files, directories, registry items, or processes that start with $sys$ as the first five letters in the name.
Already this story is picking up major momentum and I would expect to see this on the major media outlets online soon. In fact, Brian Krebs has a great article on his Washington Post Blog. Sony (specifically Sony Music) is going to get some seriously bad press and they need to be thinking major damage control plans right now.
