Jihad Against Danish Newspaper

I am sure that lots of blogs are linking to this story about Muslims upset over some Muhammad cartoons. Certainly, it isn’t slipping past Michelle Malkin. But I think at the root of the whole story is further proof of how wacky many of these people are. To me, rather than information about terrorism threats against the newspaper or other threats of violence towards the artists in question, I am intrigued most by this quote:

The Danish imam Raed Hlayhel reacted with the statement: ?This type of democracy is worthless for Muslims. Muslims will never accept this kind of humiliation. The article has insulted every Muslim in the world.?

If this doesn’t speak volumes about the mindset I don’t know what does. Democracy cuts both ways. You can do these things and then you can also condemn them. But in a normal society, we don’t go killing people over cartoons. We don’t write off our freedom in America because we dislike some art or pornography we don’t like. We work within our government to make sure our kids are not exposed to it and that our tax dollars don’t promote it. But we don’t call out for blood over these things. And in the last paragraph of the article we see an example along these lines:

Meanwhile in Brussels a young Muslim immigrant published a poster depicting the Virgin Mary with naked breasts. Though the picture has drawn some protest from Catholics (though not from Western embassies, nor from the bishops), this artist need not fear being murdered in the street. On the contrary, he is being subsidised by the Ministry for Culture.
