Signers of the Declaration

For this 4th of July, I thought it would be neat to dig up a little something about the signers of the Declaration of Independence. I think the most interesting thing I found was about the three signers from Georgia (Gwinnett, Hall, and Walton). Anyone familiar with Georgia will immediately recognize those names (they are all prominent county names). One interesting part I found with Gwinnett was his continuing fights with another Georgian (McIntosh — also a county name). Ultimately, Gwinnett died due to injuries received from a duel with McIntosh. Of particular note was McIntosh’s opposition to Gwinnett’s plan to invade part of Florida to secure the southern boarder of Georgia.
