Kerry’s Tora Bora Offensive Rankles Troops

This FOXNews.com article points out three very important things. One, it points out the flaws in Kerry’s attack on the President with regard to the Osama bin Laden capture scenario in Tora Bora. By trying to cast things in a negative light (just as he has done by saying we don’t have any real allies), he has managed to tear down the moral of our troups and our allies. Certainly, this is no way to win a war. There is absolutely nothing that has convinced me that Kerry would see things through. He wanted the US to cut in run in Vietnam and I think he’ll do that here because he has already stated that he doesn’t think we should be there. He’ll try for a few months and then say, “oh well, we tried, but wouldn’t couldn’t get out of the hole we were in.”

The second important fact that is pointed out here is that you can’t just snap your fingers and double the size of the special forces overnight. If you have ever watched any of the elite forces documentaries on the Discovery Channel, you’d know how tough it is to graduate and become a special forces soldier. The failure rate is extremely high and lowering the standards would (as one soldier pointed out) be the only way to quickly increase the number of special forces troops. Lowering the standards of course shows that you increased the number of troops, but with the quality drop you just weakened all the special forces units.

The final point here is that Tommy Thompson is right:

U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson said that bin Laden made the tape to help Kerry get elected.

“Usama bin Laden would not give out a video report 72 hours before the election unless he wanted to influence it,? Thompson, a former Republican governor from Wisconsin, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in an interview.
