Electrical Outages Affect Thousands In Metro Atlanta
I guess that Hurricane (really Tropical Storm/Depression at the time) Ivan really did do some damage in the Atlanta area. I was stunned to hear that 210,000 customers on Georgia Power and another 55,000 in EMC’s were without power. We had several little brown outs and brief surges but nothing sustained. Apparently Buckhead had areas of real bad flooding as the Peachtree Creek overflowed its banks. Speaking of rivers and creeks overflowing, the Pumpkinvine Creek that flows behind our subdivision is returning to normal but in this picture I took from the nature trail, you can see how high it is and the damage to the trees and such:
